Bay House Access Statement

Bay House aims to meet the needs of all guests and provide comfortable surroundings.

Pre-arrival

• You may contact Bay House by telephone, email or by post.
• Large print directions and a street map of Tenby, which indicates the location of Bay House can be forwarded to you prior to your stay.
• The nearest Railway Station is approximately five minutes by car. By foot it is approximately a ten minutes walk and the road from the station is quite steep. There are a number of Taxi firms in the area and arrangements can be made for collection from the Railway Station.
• The nearest Bus Stop is approximately 150yards from the premises and is a level walk.
• Limited parking is available outside the premises.
• The nearest car park is the Rectory Field Car Park and is approximately 250yards away and is a level walk. Arrangements can be made for your collection from the car park with your luggage.
• The Town is approximately a 150 yards level walk.
• The Esplanade is approximately a 250 yards level walk.
• Assistance Guide dogs are welcomed. However, there are no facilities for an outside 'run free' area at the premises.

Reception Facilities

• As you turn into Picton Road you will notice a bright blue property with a blue sign and white letters. This is Bay House.
• There are four steps to the property from the pavement to the front door. The steps are all painted a dark grey and are smooth in surface. The steps measure 68 inches wide and are 13 inches in depth; tread of step is 7 inches in depth.
• There is no handrail. The main door has a lever handle that is brass and pushes in.
• There is no ramp to the front door and for safety reasons one cannot be used.
• The flooring in the Reception area is a combination of wooden boards and rugs.
• Seating is available in the Reception area and an alternative seating area is available.
• A clipboard is available for use while registering.
• A magnifying glass is available in Reception.
• No induction loop system is present.
• Assistance with luggage provided.
• The Reception and Dining room are on the same level.
• There is no toilet on the ground floor level (Reception & Dining room level).
• There is no public telephone, but use of the private telephone is available if required.
• The Reception area and hallways are well lit and there is a colour contrast between the floor and walls.
• The stairways and landings and dining room are carpeted.

Bedrooms

• The Bedrooms have a combination of wooden boards, rugs and carpet.
• Bedrooms are situated on the first, second and third floor levels.
• There are 9 steps from reception to bedroom one. The steps are 35 inches wide and 6 inches in depth with a tread of 12 inches.
• There is a small carpeted lip (step up) to Bedroom one from the landing, which is approximately 2 inches high.
• Bedroom one has a king-sized bed with bedside lamps.
• Tea & coffee facilities in room.
• Bedroom one has ensuite facilities and has a step up into the shower of 8 inches. There is no 'grab rail' fitted at present.
• There are 18 steps from Reception to Bedroom 2. They are 35 inches wide and 6 inches in depth, with a tread of 12 inches.
• Bedroom 2 is situated on the next landing to Bedroom 1 and also has a King-size bed. A single bed can also be erected in the room if needed.
• There are bedside lamps each side of the King-size bed.
• Tea & coffee facilities in room.
• Remote controlled television/DVD and ipod player.
• Bedroom 2 is ensuite and has a bath with shower over. There is no 'grab rail' fitted at present.
• The bedroom doors are not numbered.
• There are no telephone facilities in the bedrooms.
• Bedroom three is situated on the third floor level and has either twin beds, or a superking size bed depending on your requirements.
• There are 27 steps from Reception to Bedroom 3. The steps are 35 inches wide and 6 inches in depth with a tread of 12 inches.
• The room is carpeted.
• There are bedside lamps to each bed.
• Tea and coffee facilities are in the room.
• Remote controlled TV/DVD and ipod player in room.
• The ensuite bathroom has slip resistant flooring.
• The Shower has a 'half door'.
• The shower tray has a step up of 8 inches.

Dining Room

• The Dining area is spacious with movable chairs.
• The Door to the Dining room has safety glass panels.
• The floor is wooden.
• A large print menu and verbal menu is available.
• Coloured crockery and glassware available for the visually impaired.
• I would endeavour to provide any dietary requirements, but prior notice would be appreciated.

Emergency Procedure
In the event of a fire the main exit is the front door. The bell will ring continuously if an evacuation is needed. Please ensure that you make yourself aware of our fire procedure. Information can be found on the bedroom doors and also on the Dining area door.
Please ask on your arrival if you have any concerns over emergency procedures.

Whilst every attempt has been made to be as accurate and to include as much detail as possible in this statement I am always willing to provide more information and in greater detail on any aspect you may require.

Planned arrangements

• A vibrating pad to place under pillow if the Fire alarm should sound.
• Provision of easy grip cutlery.
• Wireless broadband
• 'Touch' lamps, which enables the light to be turned on and off by touch at the bedsides.
• Task lighting in bedrooms.
• Raised numbers or signage on Bedroom doors.
